I own three magazines for each of the four pistols I have. No real reason why, other than that's how I bought them. I did specially purchase a 33 round magazine for the Glock model 17 I have (9mm), just for the hell if it. Are you considering a purchase?

Lots and lots! Average is about 10 per pistol. I shoot a lot of competition and usually need 6-8 loaded 8 or 10rd mags at any one time.

Cheap magazines like 22's we have about 8 each. Magazines for our guns that are magazine specific we only get about 5 of each because they are more expensive. For 1911's we have a dozen Wilson Combat magazines because they are interchangeable between 1911s but at $40 each for the ETM's they get to start costing a fortune. AR magazines we have tons of because they are cheap and good to have all loaded before you head out to the range to be able to spend more time shooting than loading.

As many as you can afford, and then some. Depends on how often the gun gets used. I have probably 30+ 1911 mags. I have probably a dozen glock mags. Et cetera. Guns that don't get run hard, like my Five-Seven have three.

Not to hijack this thread, but I've had my eye on a FN Five Seven for a while now - how do you like it? What do you feed it for target practice? Is that ammo expensive?

I shot my fair share of the five sevens and never liked them. Then again I never liked Glocks either. They all feel like Legos to me. Also I'm not a fan of the proprietary ammo that only FN can make (at least last I checked).

But to each their own. As I said, I'm the minority as far as Glocks go too

It's a gun I will never sell. It's just too much fun. Plus you can take varmints with it. I just feed it the standard FN ammo found at Cabelas, Gander, and the like. Ammo isn't cheap, but it isn't expensive either. It gets very little range time simply because it's not a gun I'm worried about mastering. I think it's about 45 cents per round or so. Which is good considering a few years ago it was $1 round - if not more.

Good gun to teach new shooters on, assuming they have big enough hands for it. Gets a lot of looks at the range too... especially when you're shooting out a target at 100 yards next to people with rifles.

Thanks guys. I am a "Glock Guy", but I've never fired a 5-7 (my local range doesn't have one for rent). I hear what you're saying about proprietary ammo too. I've had my eye on it for over a year, but I haven't grown the balls to "pull the trigger" on it (yet)... :)

Ok, I don't feel weird at all now owning 50 PMAGs for my ARs and 10+ for each pistol. Came about as a result of training. When taking 2-3K rd count classes in 2 or 3 days it comes in handy!

FN 5.7 is fun! But my next pistol buy will be the FNP 45 Tacti-cool with the red dot and threaded barrel and all that chit. :gangfire:

Sadly, just one magazine for my 1911. My .22 has like 4 or 5 just because they are cheap. I was just looking online yesterday though and was going to order 2 more 1911 mags until I realized there were so many different options. I want to start doing beginner level competition this month so I'll need to have at least 3 or 4 on hand.

I would VERY highly recommend looking into Wilson Combat magazines. They load more consistently than any other 1911 magazines I have ever used.

Yup, that's the brand I've decided on. But they are around $30 a pop so I'm trying to find a cheap set on gunbroker or something because I need at least two more so I can start some light competition matches

I've got 2 WC mags in the mail!
I didn't buy any WC mags yet and just got a couple cheap ones from a member on another forum...they jammed on my very first event this weekend. I should have tested them out before but they came in literally right before I left. Everyone gave me crap over it too...
