I'm visiting my daughter in AZ for christmas and she gave me a lighter and a can of butane. I know I can't take it back tomorrow on the plane but how do you mail butane? Is there a special way I need to pack it?

BIG thanks for your help

Shipping might be more than simply buying another can when you get back home. If we're me I would leave it there, not worth the trouble to sneak on plane or to ship it for one can.

I'm with the others in leaving the can of butane behind. Either that, or mail them both to your home. If you leave it behind, at worst, its like $6-7 at a store in Michigan.

Butane is NOT allowed on an airplane, even on checked luggage. I wouldn't try it; the TSA will probably yank it and leave a note behind.

I would leave the butane with her so you always have when you visit. I did the same with my mother. Just left a can (and inexpensive torch) with her for those times I visit. Not even worth mailing to yourself. The postage saved could go to you buying a can when you get home.
