Mbombay
Habano Blend
4.5*48
Straight cut: Xi3 cutter
Triple torch to light
The outer band had me concerned to begin with, but no issues with it. Closed foot, looks well constructed. Extremely loose draw, spice on the lips and tongue before I have even lit it up.
1/3
Toasted extremely easy, it seemed like it wanted to be smoked if that's a characteristic. Medium smoke output. Pepper heavy on the retrohale be warned.
Pepper again is easily, the first thing noticed on the palete. There is a subtle leather in the background that compliments the pepper, but right now I am impressed with the smoke production for such an easy draw.
Despite it being heavy pepper on the retrohale it's almost clearing feeling. The finish is clean on the cigar but a light mix of pepper and leather linger till the next draw.
Smoke production is up at the end of the first third and start of second. And there is a floral note coming up. Cleaning the pepper, and the leather is on the rise as well.
2/3
Ash is holding like a champ. Pepper is coming back again. The floral note went back down. Seems like they are fighting for the forefront of the palette. Ash just dropped. I would say medium bodied at this point with strength at a low and rising. But the body is rising with the strength. Burn has been good not razor sharp.
Note: possible suggestion of a better adhesive on the band, it was a little bit of a pain to remove.
3/3
Burns getting a bit odd. Leather is up. Pepper is still there, floral notes gone. Body is at a medium full. Strength at a medium now.
Getting hot and squishy but that's what you expect from a nub. Tunneling a bit which explains the burn issues I was having toward the end.
Conclusion: 86
I would keep a 5er on hand maybe one every two to three weeks or so. I like the size. Would have preferred a little less pepper, but I love that leather.
Smoke Time: 1 hour and 5 minutes
-Broadleaf
Note: had it paired with Angels Envy but didn't touch it the whole cigar, I opted instead for a bottled sprite.
