I'm a day away from heading out on the bike for 5-7 days.

Me and a buddy are taking a trip south. Our route is:

We'll be riding the Blue Ridge for about 100 miles, Miners 28, Dragons Tail, Wayah Road, Cherahola Skyway and the Devils Triangle.

No set stop points. First day we'll put in about 450 miles to get us to where we'll get on the BRP so we can get up and ride it fresh the next morning. We both have GoPro's on our bike and will be recording some good areas as we ride.

Luckily the guy going with me is also an avid cigar smoker, so he and I will be taking quite a stash with us, not to mention some bourbon. :)

Looks like that oughtta be a good ride, especially with bourbon and cigars! Some of my brothers did a bourbon run one year and I have heard many great stories about that ride. Hope you guys have a safe enjoyable trip!

Awesome country you will be enjoying! If you get lost and end up near Chattanooga give me a shout. Although I am laid up and can't drive maybe we could still meet. Have a safe ride brother.

I'm Back...Here is the short journal.

Left NW Ohio Saturday July 12 at 8:30 am w/ a buddy riding a KTM Adv 1190 R

Rode to Wytheville, VA for our first stop. 392 miles through blistering heat once we hit Columbus and through Hocking Hills, through Charleston. We were saved by our Evaporative Cooling vests that we had. Was like air conditioning on our bodies. We wouldn't have made it to Wytheville without them.

Got up on July 13 (Sunday) rode down 21 to Sparta, VA and took a couple little obscure roads to land on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Rode the parkway all the way to Asheville, NC. Trip mileage was 640 at our resting place in Maggies Valley, NC.

July 14 we rode out of Maggies Valley over to Cherokee and then on to Wayah road. Wayah Rd was OK, but it was wet and had some construction going on so it was good to ride, but nothing to great. From there we worked over to the Cherahola Skyway and blasted down the skyway to Tellico plains. The Skyway is in great shape and we carried a lot of speed on it, as it was fairly empty and was like the closed it for us. We made Tellico in 28 minutes. We ate lunch in Tellico and then worked up to the head of the Dragon. By this time it was about 4:30 in the afternoon and the Dragon was empty. We ran it to Deals Gap and bought the requisite T-Shirts. We then headed down 28 and back to Cherokee for the night. Our total mileage at this point is now at 902.

July 15 we got up and headed up 441 into Gatlinburg, carried on to Pigeon Forge and Knoxville. Picked up 62 and headed for the Devils Triangle. The beginning of the DT was rough (near Bushy Mtn Prison) and we thought it was going to be lack luster. As we started our fist decent after that though the road conditions improved and we picked up the pace. After the Devils Triangle we headed to I75 and rode to Lexington KY for the night. Sitting at 1240miles now.

This morning, July 16 we geared up for the 250 miles home. Left at 9:30am and I pulled in the drive at 1:30pm.

1492 Miles
Avg speed: 54mph
Avg MPG: 42.8
Time on Bike (moving): 26:45 hrs

If interested you can watch my Youtube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4l...iPdhGJRxcI9IDA as I will be uploading all my goPro vids as they process. 2 are already there and they're the Cherahola.

Glad you had a safe ride brother! Sounds like you had a good time and made very good time with some of the conditions. I will go see if I can check out your videos now. Have a great weekend.

Just a warning...the videos are raw...meaning I didn't shorten them as I recorded them for documentation sake.
