Miami

Any brothers live in or around Miami...or have any experiences on the town as far as someone who would be moving there? Miami is on my short list of cities to move to in Florida....just wondering what the experiences and impressions are?

Lived there for 2 years getting my master's. Cigar culture, fantastic. Night life, awesome. Weather, (other than the occasional hurricane) beautiful. English, sparse. Traffic, terrible. Prices, pricey.

It's a big city- there are big pluses and minuses to everywhere.

Charleston is better, though the cigar culture is alittle less.

With the high crime rates, drugs, and different culture/lifestyle than my family is use to Miami would not be an option for us. Mine is more from impression and partly cause my cousins, aunt, uncle, and Grandparents live around Jacksonville tell Miami not a great place to live.

I live in South Florida (Ft. Lauderdale area) and like to visit Miami, but moved out of Miami-Dade into Broward County and like it better up here. Seems like as soon as you go south of Broward the traffic is way worse, people are rude (OK more rude, this is South Florida), may not be able to find people who speek english. There is a lot of nice things about the area, but if you will not be working deep in the city, you may want to consider Broward to live.

Thanks for the responses guys, I'm just making a list of cities to consider right now. I am more apt to move to the west side to the crime rate being relatively less and the beaches being more my style. I just considered Miami because of all the activities I could enjoy over there and the younger population...I'm just scared I'll be bored in Sarasota or Naples.

Yea, but Miami has that really good CSI crew that drives the Hummer. If you're ever the victim of a crime, they'll be able to solve it!
