I have only come across 2 boxes of cigars that had mold.
Cuaba Generoso's BMOUSU
RG PE's 06/05

The Cuaba's had more of a grey type of mold that looked more like a fine dusting of ash, but was fuzzy covering quite a bit of the cigar as you can see.

The RG's have a different kind of mold, more of a cluster type that seems to ball up at the end. I'm not a botanist or anything but I can tell you that neither type can be good.

Damn Rob - sorry. Feel free to share any preventative or salvage tips if this unfortunate experience results in any.

Now something like these are exactly what I'd be looking for to do my mold experiments with. Basically three parts to the testing; attempts at successful cleaning; taste comparison to see if mold leave any "real" taste difference, and lastly mold spread from stick to stick in various types of storage.

Wipe em off and smoke them. Unless it is the blue green type and in the foot of the cigar you will be ok.

I was just told that the mold on the RG's are not the "bad" mold and just wipe it off.

You guys are pretty spot on with the reply I got about the RG's.

I hope the coolers get moved to the mancave for colder storage. I did not see them in the mancave photos, but will help you immensely and hopefully avoid mold issues in teh future.

The coolers are in the basement, but in a different room off the mancave. The one cooler that had the mold pop up only has a credo but I'm sure after I get more beads it will go away. I'll add some bacteriostat(???) for my room humidifier to the credo for the mean time.

Funny thing is I never really use the hygro's since I switched to beads. I got them in each cooler, but they are there just for looks since I go by what the beads look like.

The room where the coolers are has a lot of excess moisture (water heater, crawl access) but I didn't think that would have any influence inside the coolers. Guess I was wrong! There's another room off the mancave that I'll end up moving the coolers to in hopes that it will bring it all under control.

Every time you open the lid, a little moisture and air gets in. If there are mold spores in the air, they follow. Bummer Rob.
