What are some signs of a fake montecristo #2? I've been spanked a couple times in posting etiquette so please help me avoid receiving fakers.

I don't want to get burned on my 1st go around with CC purchase so any private help would be great:)

PS if my etiquette is poor still please inform

Monte puts out a ton of cigars compared to other habano marcas, so construction quality can fluctuate. It really comes down to knowing your source. That said, often times the band or poor construction can be a good indicator.

if you haven't perused it, cubancigarwebsite.com is an invaluable tool. plenty of precise and accurate measurements, good pics of bands, boxes, and cigars, all the way from current LE/RE stuff to old and unfortunately discontinued vitolas and marcas.

Like I said, they fluctuate. It was also the number one cigar for CA last year which pushed up demand even more.

The site Java mentioned is probably your best bet to verify authenticity once they are in your hand aside from posting pics here.

I'm no expert on the 2, but once you spend some time learning picking out fakes isn't terribly difficult. I prefer the 4, but thanks to some brothers generosity I have a few 2s I'm hanging on to for a few more years. They are great cigars.

It really comes down to knowing your source. Period.
How will you know if you get a fake if you are not used to Cuban cigars?

I buy them all the time, just order from a good source and you will be fine. I always have them open and inspect mine to make sure they are not damaged. There are very little issues with them, other than not always looking perfect.

If you are nervous about them being authentic you should double and triple check on the vendor. If it's a cigar you know and like then you can always just get 10 and smoke one to put your mind at ease. I think all the worry about fakes is over done, don't buy em on the beach or at a hotel lobby though lol.

Definitely source dependent. Monte #2 is one of the best selling CCs and also one of the most counterfeited.
If you have had the real deal you will know a fake, especially if you buy a box with a seal that inst broken. The truth is in the seal.

Ive noticed more off-center bands lately. QC on Habanos is likely the lowest in the industry. The only way to know is to take the Pepsi challenge, then stick with your trusted source. GL!

Disagree with this, there are major operations that profit on fakes and I could quickly list at least a dozen sites that are known fakers. Once youre in the zone and have your vendors it seems easy but getting started can be daunting.

Feel free to PM checks on your vendor, we'll try to help.
