Thanks to Todd, I had another small-sizer to review. This one was the Montecristo #5.
It seemed very well constructed. It was a dark golden-brown stick with a slightly silky feel. The cap was perfect, there were no soft or hard spots, and the wrapper was quite toothy.
I snipped the cap and took a draw. It was perfect. It tasted sweet like honey with a hint of clove. The foot smelled quite musty, a good thing. I thought I had smelled a bit of woodiness as well.
As I lit it, a very woody smell was given off; campfire like. As I took a draw, my mouth was pleasured with a tsunami of maple-syrup taste. There was a lot of smoke, even from the start. I knew I was in for a treat.
One-fourth into the cigar, a fruitiness started to shine through. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. After a couple more puffs, it began to overpower the maple and it tasted almost exactly like a granny smoth apple. It was very tasty. A woodiness also came about, with a good amount of pepper flavor as well.
Halfway through my journey, the apple flavor shifted to more of a molasses-like sweetness. It was very rich and full. At this point, the twang was very pronounced, but it was sweet, not at all salty. The true power of this cigar came out of hiding as well and hit me like a ton of bricks. The aftertaste up until this point was predominantly coffee, with a hint of creamy sweetness.
Three-quarters through, the molasses started to fade a bit and gave way to almost a coffee-like flavor with loads of sweet-spice that tapered off until the finish.
The finish was outstanding! It was spicy-sweet with a hint of grassiness, and just a trace of what was left of the coffee flavor.
All in all, a great smoke. I must acquire more of these!

It got a little warm toward the end!
