So, it looks like I'll be moving to NC in a few weeks as I have new job on the wholesale side of the cigar industry under JR. I am definitely looking forward to this opportunity, and living in a new city. If anyone lives in the Burlington/Greensboro/Durham area please let me know. I can't wait for this life changing move!

One of my favorite restaurants is Dames. There's one in Greensboro and Durham. The one in Durham was voted top 3 in that area. Where are you going to live?

Loved living in NC, but I was in the NW. Had the opportunity to shop that JR once. Wouldn't mind getting out there again. Congratulations and good luck.

Good luck! I lived in Holly Springs (35 minutes south of Durham) for two years. Make sure you go to some Bulls games (I used to work there), and get your hands on some Carolina Brewing Company beer. Their Carolina Pale Ale is still one of my favorite brews. I hope you'll love it out there as much as my wife and I did.

I live less than 20 miles from the JR store in Burlington. If you need any hints on places to eat and such let me know. I'm more familiar with the Durham and Orange County areas. Orange County property taxes are a beast. The best bet will be to live in Alamance unless you have kids. The schools around Mebane and Graham don't have the best reputations.
Welcome to the neighborhood.

Burlington has Alamance Crossing shopping center with Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Texas Road House, and Red Robin. The Moe's in Mebane is my favorite Moe's. La Fiesta and La Cociena in Mebane serve up good Mexican food. There is a little spot in Hillsborough on Exchange Club Road that does great authentic Mexican. Stay away from Pueblo Viejo.

Hillsborough also has a Weaver Street Market which is a lot like Whole Foods. The original is in Carboro and a local icon. Eating on the lawn is a huge community event.

Oh, and if you're ever in the Erwin Road area of Durham try out Nosh. Me and my wife use to go every other Wednesday.

Also there is Hersey's Bar B Que in Graham and a good BBQ joint in Hillsborough. There is also a good Philly steak place in New Hope Commons right off of 40 on 15-501 in Durhamand The Loop off of Franklin Street in Chapel Hill.

Durham was voted one of the foodiest cities in the country.

I spent most of the day in Greensboro, and found a nice apartment at Westborough Apartments just off Friendly. Btw, found a great burger place called Hop's Burger Bar. Now, I'm up at the new JR Cigar store in Mooresville, and it's awesome.

Thanks! Now it's time to go back to South Florida, and pack my stuff up. Unfortunately, I don't have room in my car for my big humidor, so I am selling it to a friend. I think I am finally going to buy a wineador once I move. It's something I've been thinking about for awhile.
