Would normally agree but their beta anti-spyware was pretty good actually.

Open Office on my laptop is fine.

I tried it out with Beta 1, and just got Beta 2 loaded. They did improve overall stability tons and it lauches as fast as older version again. However even when 2007 final comes out I highly doubt I will be switching from 2003.

There are no more features that could be added to office so they did the only thing they can: reinvent the UI completely. Sure it looks nicer, but in my opinion even after I get used to the new layout it will still take my longer to get my work done. I suppose in a home atmosphere where someone hardly knows how to work with word or excel it might be nicer... they click the tab for what they are currently working on and you can preview changes by hovering over the item (actually nice).

But like I said before... take away my menu bar that I am used to and I get pissy.

They didn't actually develop the anti-spyware. In true MS fashion they bought up another company and rebadged the product as their own.

Ah, I guess that is why it works.

That antispyware always cracked me up... they buy someone elses product, throw their name in the interface and announce this new beta product. Now they finally redesigned the interface (for the worse IMO) and labeled it Windows Defender. I guess I should give them credit for recoding the whole program for the new Defender branding. According to wikipedia they moved it from VB to C++ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Defender

And as we speak they have been told to remove the PDF creator from it in a lawsuit from Adobe.

Hm. I like it when another company can tell MS what to do.
