So i ordered:

My Uzi Weighs a Ton by Drew Estate Robusto - 5 Pack

&

Drew Estate Undercrown Belicoso - 5 Pack

from Top Quality Cigars. They shipped to me on Nov 7th and I received them in fine condition. I'm in no way saying this is their fault, just sharing all the details.

They've been in my Avallo, set at 67% humidity, so it fluxes between 64-67% and is holding about 68deg. I've been in the Avallo a few times since receiving them although never moved or touched them. Was in it earlier this week and still there, no problem. I got in my Avallo today to look at some other sticks and BOOOOOOM, this is what I saw:

What the HELL! :cursing: :cursing: :cursing:

What to do, these three are almost worthless...I'll get some wrapper glue and mend them, but this shouldn't have happened. Why would this happen? Any ideas or thoughts?

Looks like moisture splits to me, but your guess is better than mine as to how it could have happened. Used to see this with Cain maduros a lot; they were notorious for "acclimation" splitting after shipping.

Little wrapper glue oughta fix that right up, though... Good luck, Nico.

Thanks Harg, that's what I thought but at 64-67% I wouldn't expect it. They shipped w/ 72% Boveda packs so if anything they should be drying some compared to shipped.

~I did send an email to TQC as well to see what they recommend.

Ask Ron C right away.

When I first got my Avallo, it needed a few adjustments to make sure the accumonitor was reading correctly.

Ron is great, and will hep you.

Definitely looks like overhumidification caused the splits.

Also in your recent Purchases photo.... one of them has a split in the wrapper. Not as extreme as what you are seeing in this photo....

I'm in total agreement that is what it looks like, but I calibrated my accumonitor when I got it over 6 mo ago and I have a digital hygro as well in it and they agree. So unless TQC stores at under 65% I'm not sure what is going on.

You're right, I didn't notice that either when I took it, or at least remember it. :help:

Hmm.

Even smashed apart like that they still look sweet !

Don't sweat it my brother, we will send you copmplimentary cigars on Monday to make up for it. Sometimes things happen. Please DM John Brooke (or maybe its "Drew Estate") here on the board with your home or office info and we will jump right on it.

Thanks
JD

JD - much appreciated but not needed.

Top Quality Cigars has already stepped up and are sending me a new 5er so all is good. I really appreciate your response as well as TQC's. You're both class acts in my book.

I'm a member at Casa de Montecristo and 8to8, which are TQC's B&Ms. Never had split issues with the cigars I have bought at either shop. Pretty sure all humi's are above 65...not that being below 65 would be an issue.

JD is great, can't wait to get to meet him sometime.
