Not sure if anyone cares but....

I have been frustrated for a few years now with my palate. Sometimes, even when I think it's clean I smoke a fav cigar and it tastes very bland. I have tried a few tricks I read about like eating a lemon with no solution to this problem. But about 2 weeks ago I discovered that a different citrus does work for me .... Oranges or kumquats!
I'm very happy about this! No more wasted cigars! So far eveytime I eat one before I smoke the cigar tastes as good as it ever has! And the times I don't have a fruit around to eat it's the same about 50/50 of it tasting bland.

So for the last several months or so I have wasted many good cigars like my fav Tat SW, but with the fruit the last few weeks they have been awesome. Ahhhh SW.... I missed you my friend!

Hope this trick continues to work!

That's good to know. It seems that citrus oil, especially orange, will clean just about anything (including the palate).

Your smoking room is awesome. Do you have your humidors out there or do you keep them away from the smoke?

milk is a natural absorbant of odors. Why do you think babies don't have rotten breath? Leave a glass of milk in the fridge next to a cut onion and you milk will taste of onions in just a few hours. so I brush to clean and milk to get rid of my minty fresh breath.

Or sometimes a cigar is just a cigar
I started think that too, but after smoking the same cigar dozens of times you know what it should taste like. Especially when it's from the same box. I know and understand that different crops and boxes and productions may taste different but the same Stick from the same box should taste the same. And that's why I knew it was a palate issue. So far my theory is correct. But I could be wrong brother.

Thanks bro.
Since the room is detached I only control the temp when i am in there. So the 110 degree summers here would murder the cigars. So my humi's are inside my house.

Interesting! I'll try that next time I don't have orange citrus.

Does Orange Juice work? Or do you have to eat an orange?

I use dilute lime-ade. The stuff full strength is way too sweet so I dilute 50/50 with water. Really cleans the palate.

This is some fascinating gouge I never know if I am experiencing a cigar as fully as I should now at least I have a shot at it. Sometimes I feel like Cole Trickle driving a race car. I know how to smoke and I do it really good but I can never seem to be able to describe the experience. I guess I need to find my own Harry Hogge to help me identify these things.

Guess it just depends on the ph-levels in different people's mouths. Black coffee always works as a palate cleanser for me (esp. after something spicy or salty).
