so this is the upstairs floorplans to the house my wife and i are getting here in about 2 months. the upstairs has already been deemed mine. im thinking of having the pooltable up there with my leather couches. throw some thick ass curtains over the windows and set up a projector. theres already a built in area for bar room, and the best part. i dont plan on storing any winter jackets in the walk in closet.

ya i think it has carper in it right now but thats gonna come up and most likely the theater will get hardwood floor and the closet will get tile, i figure that with the couches being leather. if i get a decent vent system there shouldnt be to much problem with smell might actully add a sliding glass door on the stair side of the bar to help keep smell out of the main part of the house as well

Very nice. Definitely look into good ventilation. Stale smoke smell gets old fast..

I am green with envy! As everyone else has said, ventilation is key, but you don't have to spend much money to get it right. Keep us updated on the construction once you buy the place. Good luck brother!

yeah i actully had a few questions, im looking at getting an epson 8350 1080p projector and screen and doing a ceiling mount. i just gotta find a decent surround sound that i can put in there that will fill a room that size and not cost an arm and a leg. but so far thats about all i have in store for it at the moment

very nice! obviously I agree with the ventilation part, fresh air exchange is the way to go, smokeaters don't work that great IMO. Another thing is having tile/hardwood in there too, carpet will smell like smoke in a couple months. Sounds like you have all that in mind anyway. Also, why a projector and not just a big ass tv? never researched the cost of a projector but would think the big tv's are pretty close in price with a much better picture

i can get a 1080p projector that projects 16:9 at 102" for like 1200 bucks for a decent projector with around a 4000 hr life. i have a 52" in the living room now and spend almost the same for that tv. just wanna do somthing a little different and want a huge picture, figure projector would be the way to go

One of the most important specs in a projector is lumens, how bright of a picture it puts out. JVC has some great projectors at reasonable prices. What is your budget for surround sound equipment? Do you want bookshelf type speakers or possibly in-wall or in-ceiling speakers. Lastly how do you want to control everything? A universal remote and some sort of control system is also a key part to a good home theater. Give me the budget you want to stay within and I get give you some specifics.

i would like to keep everything under 3000 if at all possible keeping in mind i still need to throw some hardwood on the floor and start converting the closet, so the less i can get away with spending the better. however i dont mind paying a little more for somthing that i am going to appreciate in the long run. i also lucked out because i had some money allocated for my bar area but seeing as how this already has a bar area build in i might be able to throw some of that money to making the theater better

You do not want hardwood in the theater room, from experience unless you have a large rug it will echo like mad!!

Congrats on the sweet man cave! Those projectors are great but if you plan on using it a lot I would suggest having a spare bulb handy. They go out before you know it. In my experience this is true with most brands. Enjoy!!

Speaking of balla status. I can’t even afford a house let alone upgrade to include a theater and a bar.
