The HE lancero.

I know this is old news, but new to me since my Secret Santa just gave me one to smoke.

It was one of the best cigar smoking experiences I had this year. Complex, smooth, surprising. First time I picked out strong dark fruit notes in a cigar, among other things.

I am middle of the road on DE in general. I smoked a bigger RG HE earlier this year and thought little of it. I haven't smoked a ton of DE. My rankings, in the order I have enjoyed them:
  1. HE lance
  2. Rat
  3. L40
  4. UF13
  5. "A" (cut and toasted for me by JD himself)
  6. T52
  7. Bait Fish
  8. 9
  9. Undercrown
  10. Papas Fritas
  11. Nica Rustica
I do have a FFP but have yet to toast it. There is a sizeable gap between the HE lance and the Rat, too.
This is a stick I will need to find more of in the new year. Hopefully boxes are available (I know Smallbatch had some a short time ago).
Thanks again, Yodismatt!

Paul

This kinda makes me say that I've only tried one of your top 5, make me wonder what I've been missing and wondering if I should start trying to find some of these! My heart says yes, my bank account says no, haha

I had a coupe and though they were a pleasant smoke I was a bit miffed that they unraveled near the end. Id still smoke it again.

I had a 9 last week. The double corona size, I believe. It was about 6x52, I want to say. It was amazing, but the B&M $20 price tag was pretty steep. Even online, most of the liga line will run around $70 for a fiver, and that's a lot of damn money for 5 sticks.
I'd have to say that they're excellent, but unfortunately not in my current budget.

Lonsdale is one of my top favorites, they didn't last long. Have a few robs left, but IMO not as good as the narrower rg. Have yet to try the lancero, but it is on the list.
