Hey guys! This is my first-ever stash, appropriately named the Newbie Stash. Some of these are never-smoked-by-me-before, so I'm intrigued as to what you guys have to say about them. Also, yes, I know it's not in a humidor, but it's in the mail! :crosseyed

Asterisked entries have never been smoked by me before.

Starting from the left...

G.A.R. Robusto (8 remaining... heh heh)

Arturo Fuente Canones*

Rocky Patel Edge*

Ave Maria Crusader*

And in a couple days time, I will be doubling it with several full-bodied ass kickers, including my current favorite: Man O War: Ruination. :eyebrow:

Opinions, suggestions, etc. are welcome!

I think its a nice little "stash" for ya. The more cigars you try the bigger your stash will get. I started with a few cigars at a time and vowed never to have more than a handful at one time in my possession. Now my 100ct humi is full and I have to keep my overflow in Jadawin's cabinet humi.

Those GAR's are good smokes, haven't tried the others. Ruination is good. Try some of DPG's fuller blends(Black or Blue), Casa Fernandez Arsenio and Aganorsa Leaf, and maybe some T52's for something similar in body and strength to the Ruination. Havana Cazadores are about as good as it gets for the ever popular Tatuaje line, and LFD makes some great unique full/full cigars. Other than that, there is always the slippery slope of the darkside.

As a newbie smoke everything you can get your hands on and take notes (mental/on paper) of what you liked about it, what you didn't like about it. This will help you search other sticks you might find and whatever you do don't buy boxes yet, your tastes will change especially when your starting out so save your box purchases till you've "been around the block for a while"

What exactly is this "darkside"? I've seen it referred to here and there....
To me every person has their own definition of the "darkside." For many it is impulse buying. Others it may be seeking out hard to find or limited edition releases. To some it may be only smoking a certain type of cigar.

I have crossed over to the darkside in 2 ways.

1) I'm well beyond the point where I will smoke anything and everything. This kinda goes along with figuring out what you like. When you're newer you can enjoy almost anything since you're still defining your palate. Cigars I used to LOVE when I first started I can't stand anymore.

2) Now when I run into my local cigar shop, I swear to God I will only buy one cigar. I have to pep talk myself in the parking lot so I dont go crazy. Only bring in enough cash to buy the cigar I went for and THATS IT. Then you get in the store...and leave $150 broker and added another swipe to the credit card.

Aha. That explains it. Thanks for the update.

I'm going to need an actual job before I can cross over to the DarkSide and not have to sell my soul...

Ah, well. It's all good.
