Special thanks to Starz26 for sending me this stick to have my way with.
I was impressed by my initial inspection of the Super Belicoso. The skin was very shiny with hardly and protruding veins. I couldn't find any imperfections.
The pre light draw was not as flavorful as I expected but it did yield and very nice leathery tobacco taste.
Once lit every thing changed. The first third of the stick seem to be the strongest as far as the taste goes. When I smoke I have to blow some smoke through my nose to be able to get my whole palate involved. That way I can pick up on all of the flavors. I was pleasantly surprised that it did not give my nose that tingling burning sensation. The Super Beli didn't have a lot of flavors going on but the ones it did have were great! It offered a good balance of leather, spice and a little cedar. Defiantly not as peppery as I thought it was going to be. Very very smooth. After about four or five puffs I had a nice little head rush going on.
As you can see from the pic, I got pretty close to the half way point and the ash still had a firm hold. The burn was razor sharp for about another three or four puffs after the picture was taken. Then it got a little uneven. No big deal. Just helped it out a bit and no more issues.
From about half way to the last third the taste was the same. Very smooth creamy and strong. This is defiantly one of the strongest cigar I have smoked. But not strong in a bad way.
Now I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for but I've found that you don't always have to pay a lot to get a really good cigar. Don't get me wrong this is certainly an very well crafted cigar but I think some of the prices I have seen for it are outrageous. I would shop around before I pay $20+ for this cigar. Not saying it is not worth it but I would not pay that much. I would max out around 15 to 16 bucks. At that price it would be a special occasion smoke that I would want to put some age on.
Bottom line. Is it worth the hefty price tag some retailers are asking for? Yes. However would I pay 30+ like Best Cigar Prices has it listed for? No. None the less I give it 5 stars.
Again I would like to thank Starz26 for giving me my first Opus X experience. My wife and I just bought a house about a month ago and funds are kinda tight right now. Knowing me, I would not have splurged on one of these until things got a little better financially. Thanks again bro!!!
