n00b Question: Cigar Construction - The Cap(s)

what's the purpose of having more than 1 cap? or that Cuban triple cap? or quad cap like on the capa habano?

believe its an opinionated question, in my option its to make cutting easier and the possibility of the gar unraveling less of a possibility

Yeah I think it's what navy said. Just more consistent construction...not that I know shit but my brain says it sounds right anyway lol

My professional opinion is..... I have no idea. But the experts tend to think its a good thing.

from the experts at cigars and tobacco:A triple cap is used by certain brands of cigars, and is traditionally used by the Cuban cigar makers. To make a triple cap, two circular pieces, one larger than the other, are glued over the flag. This method will help to firm up the head of the cigar and will also give added security when cutting the cigar.

I don't know the official reason for double caps but I find that if they have single caps then the cap is cut off and the cigar has more of a chance of unraveling during smoking. With a second cap, which is larger, I tend to cut off the first cap and a ring of the second cap is still there to protect the end. Just my observations.
