Hey BOTL!
I'm from the UK and am almost 100% a Habanos man.. However.. I am going to New York this year in about August/September time and I'm going to be going to Nat Sherman. I was wondering what you guys experiences are of Nat Sherman and what should I look for?

Help me out you guys across the pond!!!

Thanks a lot
Alex

It's been a couple years since I've been in the store but it is a very nice place. Not sure what it's like since Herklots(sp) has been manager but I would have to believe it's still very nice. There used to be a Vault where they kept aged cigars and some of their own blends only available in the store. Beautiful lounge, I'm not sure if you need to be a member now to access it, however.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot mate! I know they have a locker with Pre-Embargo Partagas cigars, but accessing that might be difficult! I'm going to ask about some guys in the business to see if they can ask if they could be kind enough. I'd love to see them!!
You buy any smokes there??
Regards,
Alex

I was just a Nat Sherman's this spring, always a nice place to visit while in NY. I picked up a few ounces of their pipe tobacco. The only down side was the buildings around the shop are/were under renovation so the shop is hidden by scaffolding. Been a while since I smoked any of their cigars, I have heard some good things about their 1930 Selection. Their is a Barclay-Rex Shop just up the street across from Grand Central Station, if your a piper they have a good selection of tobacco and a small walk in.

There's a B. Rex about a block from Nat Sherman. Nat Sherman blows it away. The guys are very helpful and when I told them I wanted to poke around the walk in for a while they left me alone without hassle. They have a solid selection above and beyond their core lines and I scored a couple nice smokes along with a few from their Timeless collection. My wife and daughters were shopping next door at Sephorias but I couldn't hang out long and smoke, but the lounge area looked fantastic. I didn't make it upstairs but I'll be heading back this Spring fo show.

I have not had the pleasure of visiting this establishment but, if I do, I will be looking to try one of the Bolivar D' Oro which from what I hear, is a solid stick. So, while you are there, if this fits your taste profile, pick one up and tell me what you think.

I had a bad experience at Nat's. I bought a couple of cigars, asked if there's a lounge or a place I can enjoy one. The sales person was very smug and said, well, you can smoke in the humidor but you have to stand. Cancelled the order and walked out. There are a lot of lounges in the area though. Davidoff has 2 (Columbus Circle and a larger on Madison Ave...50th I think), Cigar Inn is not that far, De La Conce is on Avenue of the America's right around the corner from Columbus Circle, Wall Street Humidor on Warren St (downtown Manhattan) just to name a few.

BTW, let me know when you're coming and if I'm not doing anything, I'll come into the city and burn a couple with you. BTW, you can't smoke in the city parks or in Times Square just to let you know.

Great store. Its down the street from my New York office and I stop by anytime I am in town. It has a surprisingly good variety/selection and some friendly folks.

One of the top 5 B&M's out there in my opinion, you feel the history the NYC cigar world when you relax in their store. Smoke a Timeless, sit in one of the chairs to the right of the sales counter, and take it all in.
