Hi guys! I have been smoking CC and NC cigars for a few years now and in the past I have always smoked everything that I purchased and never had a lot of sticks on hand at a given time. I think that I want to start a really good collection of special NC cigars. Sticks that are hard to come by or rare, or just really awesome cigars. What do you guys think would be essential to a really good NC collection? Opus X? FFP's? Casa Fuente only releases?

-Thanks :cbig:

Thinking a little Fuente heavy huh? haha. Anejo, Tatuaje (Conjou, Capa, Blacks), Quesada (Espana, Domus Magnus), Illusione (Singulare, Epernay, 888), Padron (1926, 1964, aniversario) JMHO

The thing is I am spoiled rotten with selection at my B&M and I can walk in any day and get the padrons and opus stuff. I guess what I want is hard to find vitolas or limited release stuff. I will always smoke what I like but I just want the thrill of the hunt and collection.

Harder stuff that's NC and great IMHO; Nosotros, Tatuaje (tattoo lancero, SW maduro, pork chop, verite 08 and 09), opus BBMF/ chili pepper, LP40, Dirty Rats, AVO 07 and 08 yearlys, My Father 2010's SE, GOF 05 OR, etc... Etc... Lol

An essential cigar collection contains sticks that taste good to YOU.
our brother from another down under mother speaks truth! DON'T rush out and fill out a collection. start by buying more of what you like, looking to trade or by for smaller releases, and really get a sense of what you NEED to have on hand. that you have to ask this question, means you may wind up with buyers' remorse. expand your storage, question yourself about WHY you like certain smokes (profile, texture, vitola, appellation, etc.), and you will eventually know when you MUST HAZ something.

FWIW, dig around for some older threads on what NC cigars age well, as that may be a good indicator for you. and happy hunting!

EDIT: oh, and this!

Tatuaje Lil Monsters, box after box after box. And 3 Opus X.

Just like BB King, for me the "thrill is gone". I collect things that will age gracefully Many NC that are htf, say a Padron 80th, are NOT made to lay down and collect. Many of the tobaccos used in the blends are 10 years or older. It was a fun ride for a few years while the fun lasted!

agree... would also add that a lot of fresh NCs are going to be very different once older. mellower, without some of the kick. depends on what you enjoy now. if you find an NC that is like a punch in the face, and you want to try a mellower, smoother version, that is what to age. the Opus released last year fit that bill for me, so I put 4 singles aside. that is about the extent of my NC collection.
