So bought a workhorse 7 from fulman to replace my coralife aquapro 2x96w ballast. Interestingly enough they arent even close to the same size. so the workhose will have to sit on top of my case instead of in it. But more concerning to me is the fact that the wires dont seem to add up, and Im looking for a little help with that if anyone could shed some light.

These are the wires on the fulham 2 red 2 blue 2 yellow, and black and white

Now I know where the black and white wires go, but what I cant figure out is how to connect the remaining 6 wires into this 8 prong connector.

So that they will match up with my units wiring cnfiguration of

2 brown, 2 yellow, 2 orange, 2 blue

While my old ballast configuration does appear to be similar to fulhams I can seem to figure out what Im missing

fulhams can be found http://www.atlantalightbulbs.com/images/fulham/wire11.gif

At any rate I may in fact be SOL, but I'd sure like a crack at fixing my balast here before shelling over 1000 bucks for a completely new light source. Any help would be very much appreciated!!! Cheers all

I had a Fulham 7 for a while running that bulb configuration but I was not wiring it to another plug, I wired it from scratch so I can't help ya.

I guarantee someone on RC can tell you how to wire that though.

Well the first question is how many lamps are you powering? The second question is compact fluorescent or linear (tube type)? Lastly is the power rating the same (wattage)?

I just replaced the ballast in my t-5 reef tank light. I initially purchased a off brand ballast, but ended up sending it back, and searched the google machine and was able to locate a direct replacement. It made life much easier. Is there a reason you choose to go with a different ballast brand?

You should be able to trace the wires back from the existing ballast plug to the lampholders then match them up using the schematic for the Fulham. Cut the wires, slip some shrink tubing around the wires before soldering, than button them up. More pics would help, especially of the lampholder wiring.

So the wiring at the light connection is exactly the same as the ballast. two black/white wires, and two all black wires....a wire from each pin, so I am still 2 wires short. As far as I can tell I need two more yellow wires to make this work.

Usually a ballast wire doubles up and connects to more than one holder but the schematic on the ballast pic and the schematic from the link are completely different so it's difficult to determine which are the commons in your configuration.
