Hi guys

I'm new to this forum and have been getting great advice from various threads and forum members. You guys really know your stuff and I hope to be a connoisseur like many of you someday.

I've got a few questions that I hope some of you can help me with:

1. I've got my father-in-laws' 60th coming up. He's a big fan of Behike and Montecristos...any suggestions on which one to go for? Which one will earn me some respect from old bugger? :)

2. From what I've read online, cc source redacted seems to be a good site to buy from in terms of product, customer service and guarantees. They seem to be a professional outfit with good reviews. Has anyone used them and if so, are they any good?

3. There seems to be a big shift towards Nicaraguan brands...do you guys reckon the 'hey-days' of Cubans are over and it's time for the Central American countries to shine?

4. Do countries in close proximity to Cuba get the best quality Cubans? Or can we still get the same sort of quality down here in Australia and New Zealand?

Thanks for the advice guys, hope to hear from you soon.

Cheers,
Frank

Yup. This is not something we talk about in the open. And something most guys won't talk to about with someone who doesn't have some time on the site under their belt. It's generally a bad idea to ask about a source unless you've been around about a year or are friends with someone. You're gonna get a lot of just stick around and make friends. You'll get advise on sources but not for a while. Even then it's not something ever discussed in the public forum.

If your in Australia like I think I read you are then Cuban Cigars are legal and openly sold there. Here in The States they are still illegal and not openly spoken about. There is a section on the forum dedicated to discussion of Habano's. Nothing wrong with it as there are a lot of overseas and Canadian brothers that can legally smoke Cuban Cigars which are more affectionately known as cc's here.

As far as Nicaraguan, Honduran, Dominican, Costa Rica, etc, etc, There are MANY wonderful cigars ranging through the full spectrum of flavors and strengths that would fit any flavor and strength profile. This all comes down to budget and personal preference. Personally, I like the Nicaraguans and Hondurans. Many blenders and manufacturers are blending using tobacco from multiple countries in their blends. There are some that I prefer over a CC but that is my personal preference.

If you want to learn more about Cuban Cigars and ask some questions. Here is the link to the section that would be better to ask these questions: http://www.botl.org/community/forums/forumdisplay.php/8-Habanos

Good luck in finding what your looking for

Thanks so much Wantacigar. Appreciate the info on CCs and sorry again for stepping on any toes. We've got no issue here in Aus but I totally understand the reasons in the States etc.

I know what you mean about about the Nicaraguans...my brother-in-law introduced me to some about a year ago and I was really impressed. So much so, they're fast becoming my preferred cigars. I'll check out those threads you mentioned. :peace:

Thanks for keeping an eye guys. I've edited out the source information, seems like an inadvertent mistake - no worries.

Couple other legit questions in there, feel free to continue the discussion otherwise.
