I'm not sure what price point your thinking about spending, but as far as quality and as close to perfect brew as you can get they don't get any better than the Technivorm in my opinion. We've had the Moccamaster for probably a year or a little longer and it makes a great cup of coffee. You can do a little reading on it and see why it is such a good coffee brewer.

Technivorm

Still I'm going to need a good drip machine as well for parties, sunday mornings when im way to hungover to deal with a press and my wife is back to drinking coffee after being preggo for 9 months and theres no way she'll use a press every morning!!

that tecno looks really good though!!

I have a [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Capresso-440-05-Electronic-Coffeemaker-Thermal/dp/B000063XHI"]Capresso MT500[/ame] (Amazon link) and it's been a great coffee maker. That said, once it dies I'll probably get a Technivorm.

It is seriously amazing how good of a cup of coffee these things brew. I bought a Swiss Gold filter instead of using paper. This is the wife's brewer that she uses daily.

I have used it on occasions and loved the coffee but my preferred method is one of two stainless steel french presses that I have. On 32 oz and one 48 oz. I bought these a couple of years ago (they're kind of expensive) and for me it's the only way to brew.

The "OTA FAQ and Knowledge Base" is a very good place to start.

It would also help the users here if you listed your location. There may be many others around you who could offer more area-specific help.

Hi Guys

I've thought about switching over to a press for myself since I'm the only coffee drinker in the house. What grind works best with a press? Thanks,

Press is the way to go! You want a coarser (larger grain) grind. If the beans are ground too fine and put into a press you will get sludge. Also you need considerable more coffee for a press than you would a drip.
There are economical home burr grinders (two disks that "grind" the coffee between them as opposed to spinning blades that chop it up) with settings to help get the perfect grind for press, drip or espresso.
If buying a new grinder isn't in the budget then at your local grocery store in the coffee isle there is a large grinder with settings. I would suggest using this once to get a gauge on how the grind should look (you don't want to use it every time because of the many types of beans that have been run thru it and it will change the taste of your coffee).

I've got a Miele built-in and it works great. Push a button and it grinds and brews each cup fresh...you can dial in your own preferred grind and strength. Can do espresso, coffee, cappuccino...no thinking involved!

You will want a coarser grind for using a press. You can sometimes get away with medium and use it in a drip, but its probably not as good tasting. Espresso is just too fine and will go through the filter and be gross.

EDIT: Oops didn't see someone answered already.
