My wife is due with our first, within the month. I was wondering about suggestions for a real good cigar to mark the occasion, sub 20 bucks, due to my fiscal constraints...lol. I know, that does not leave much room, but any suggestions are more then welcome!

Thanks guys!

First a big congratulations to you both.

I usally went with a box of Fuentes/Ashtons, Ashton classic 8-9-8 or Aged Maduro 10, Arturo Fuente Don Carlos (just suggestions) many more to pick from since most of them are a mild to med. smoke and you are handing out to folks who may not smoke that many cigars.

Now my friends that I know are cigar smokers I usally passed out to them the the $15-$30 med to full bodied smokes.

Sorry, I guess I should have been clearer. I am looking for one exceptional cigar for me to smoke to celebrate, no one in the family smokes cigars, so it would be a waste on them.

I just want a really decent celebratory smoke for myself, as no one else smokes.

Sorry for the confusion....lol

By the way, I was leaning towards the Camacho Liberty, not too sure on those types of cigars (Opus X, etc) as I have never had one.

I would look into:
Padrons (44,45th, 80th etc.)
Opus or Anejo
La Verite

All depends on what you like.

Padron Anniversary is your best bet. They are one of the best cigars around and require little to no aging.

I know some people buy a whole box when they have a child and smoke 1 cigar at birth and 1 for each birthday. For this it would be best to get a cigar which is treated well with age, Habano's are an excellent choice.

For less than $20 you've got a crap ton of choices, a lot of which have been listed already. I'm a fan of Padron so would probably go with an 80th, 45th, or even the 46th. You might consider picking up something like a Liga Privada #9 or the T52. You may even be able to pick up a few for around $20 (smoke one and keep the other for their first birthday...or the day they leave the nest :dunno).

Congrats bro!!! I would look into FFOX or anejo, both great compliments to a new addition to the family. If your willing to spend a few bucks over you might want to look into the Padron 44 maduro.

I smoked a Padron Family Reserve 45th when my nephew was born, great smoke, but its a few dollars over your $20 cap. Well worth it though

Thanks for all the suggestions fellas!

I ended up buying a padron 1964 for 15 bucks. Unfortunatley, its all I can afford in my budget, lol. I saw the Opus X's in their wooden coffins, 45 bucks each and just sighed, lol. Maybe one day!

Thanks again for all the suggestions!

Hmm, well the only Opus's the B&M had were in coffins ranging from 43 - 75 bucks, lol

Must have been Lost City or something. Normal OpusX don't come in coffins usually...

Local shops usually have the normal OpusX line priced around $10.00-$15.00 each. Their limited cigars like Lost City and ForbiddenX can run $40.00+.

Best online prices for OpusX you will find. They are cheaper than TampaSweethearts which is owned by Fuente.

Utmost congratulations! But are you sure you should be giving your baby a cigar right off the starting line? :)
