Apparently the US Mint already made a mistake with the new Presidential series $1 coins. Several hundred thousand of these were put in circulation without "In God We Trust" stamped on the edge of the coin. I assume this verbage was put there in an attempt to appease the vocal zealot minority out there who want no mention of God in their daily lives.

In any case ... if you find one of these, KEEP IT as they are already worth $50-$100!

Yup I sw this coin at my bank. Aks the teller to unroll a wrap and saw all kinds of flaws in the roll I saw. Almostlikr they werent mint proofs. flaws on the face of the coin, edges looked worn.. Imo this coin looked and felt just like a 1/4.

Check your local Post Office vending machines. That's the only place they consistently used the old Susan B. Anthony and Sacagawea $1 coins that I noticed.

I got one tonight

time for a 100 fold profit
Make sure you are checking the right place. "In God We Trust" is not printed on the front or back...it is printed on the edge (circumference) of the coin.

This was a mistake and not the result of a plot by the atheists.

Our Founding Fathers did not see fit to put "In God We Trust" on US coins, do you think that they were stupid zealots?

I know the omission was a mistake by the mint and not some "plot". My (somewhat tongue-in-cheek / somewhat serious) comment was based on the purposeful placement of this verbage on the inconspicious edge of the new dollar coin - and my "zealot" reference was directed more toward that rather vocal minority of folks who will not be happy until all references to God, Christmas, etc. are totally obliterated from everyone's daily lives.

The founding fathers ... Stupid - hardly. Zealots - most definately. Zealots for freedom and liberty. But imo, their desire to keep church and state separated was more of a desire to keep religion out of government rather than the belief in God.

Hey Prof climb off your high horse, light up a smoke, relax and re-read Ted's post. I don't agree with your assessment of his point.
I agree with Kevin, you're either a lousy typist or rude and qiven to quantum leaps to conclusions. If it's the typing I apologize....If not, we treat each other with respect here, even when we disagree. Please try to keep that in mind in the future.

Thanks for the replies. As a nonbeliever myself I have a sensitivity to people who slam what I believe is a legitmate interest in promoting separation of church and state. But I over reacted.

I apologize for the rough edge to my response and I will go back and edit this ill advised comment.
