Most definitely a marketing gimmick. I haven't had them, but I can't imagine spending $37 for 14 cigars (less than $3/each) with such a clear marketing gimmick would leave me a very happy camper.

Don't get me wrong, there are some cheapo cigars that I really like. I just can't help but feel like these cigars needed this marketing gimmick for them to sell at all.

Maybe I'm just cynical.

Someone posted a thread about these a few months ago, he was asking what they were. I don't remember who it was, but the thread was titled something like "I found some cigars that don't even seem to exist"

43 dollars for 14 "mystery" cigars.... might be worth a try; packaging alone is pretty cool.... worst case is you have some beautiful dog rockets :)

I've spoken directly to Kurt Kendall (of 7-20-4) about these cigars (which are sold by 7-20-4)

Apparently an individual had decided to make his own cigar line awhile back that was based around the 7 Deadly Sins and mainly my based around the artwork instead of the cigars. The cigars completed production and packaging but never made it to market so they sat in a humidified environment for 16 years (I think that's the number?) and then 7-20-4 snatched them all up and they are now being sold by them. So there are very aged, dedicate cigars, and once they are gone, they're gone.

All 7 of the cigars are exactly same- mild-medium very smooth and creamy.

The art work on the packaging is supposedly the special part since the art was designed specifically for these cigars by a very famous French artist (I think/can't remember the name)

That's all I remember and I spoke to him awhile ago so my memory is a little foggy.

Yes, the artist's name was Erte. However, the images are not designed for the cigars, as he died years before they were made, and created the lithographs years before that.

I have smoked them, not a gimmick just a pretty damn cool collectors item. The cigars are very mild and smooth, basically what you would expect from a 16 year old mild-medium Dominican blend.

I thought they were Dominican based on smoking them, I didnt even read the advertisement. Either way my comments still stand beyond that.

UPDATE:

Well 1 box is to save just to look at. The other is to smoke. I'll let it rest a bit before I try one.
I opened one of the single boxes (lust). The cigar is in cellophane, it looks slightly tanned. The cigar even feels oily and there is a very fine plume on it. Time will tell. lol I'll post the results when I try one. ;)
