I received a new SLB yesterday from one of this sites sponsors and there was 6 cigars with some damage to the foot. They were split about 1/4 inch some a little more. I have received other boxes from them in the past and all were in excellent shape.

Should I contact the vendor or is it just cost of doing business?

IMO and experiences, I would just let it go. I've smoked plenty of cigars over the years with cracked feet and at the size you're stating, hadn't had any problems. If 6 or 8 had splits up beyond an inch, that's a different story. If I had a good relationship with the vendor, I'd mention something. In this case, considering the probable outcome, I wouldn't imagine that a replacement box or credit towards a future order would be fair.
Pictures would surely be a better judge, though.

For the record, my attitude towards issues are simple. If it's somethign that will hamper my smoking experience (split foot, smashed head, unrolling cigars, mold, beetles, plugged), I mention the problem. If it's cosmetic, I look the other way. I feel it's not the "right" thing to do just over a vanity issue.

Like Craig I personally wouldn't make a stink of it if is a small crack on the foot...not that the vendor wouldn't do anything about it I just feel it wouldn't really be worth the trouble.

Not to pile on here, but I'm sure you are wanting as many opinions as possible, I will agree with what has already been said. If it is something that is not going to affect your enjoyment of the cigar, let it ride...

Have to go with the group here. 1/4 inch isn't really any big deal and it shouldn't affect your smoking experience. It may require a quick touch up once past the crack to get things perfect, but that's not a huge deal. I'd leave this one alone.

Another one for the group. In my experience, the vendors go out of their way to ensure quality packing. In fact, I am sometimes amazed at the attention to detail. Receiving smokes from far away means a lot of handling and movement. There is always going to be some risk of minor damage. Let us face it, it is not like we can walk into the local shop and buy a box out of the humidor after inspection. . .

Cool, thanks guys. I'm still pretty green at all of this and this was my 1st order where there was more than 1 or 2 w/ cracked feet.

I might just say something about checking the feet in the comments section the next time I order. I probably should not complain the box date was ABR05for a SLB of HdM Epi 1.

I say the same.

As long as it doesn't hamper the cigar smoking experience, I would let it slide.

If its something serious, I would call the vendor and tell him about it.

I would send them an e-mail letting them know, but tell them you don't seek a replacement or anything, just that they should be aware. There may be a way they can prevent it happening to other people.

Send the vendor pics and let him deal with it. He'll either credit you for the cigars or not.

Very good idead

Although I might not say anything. As many have posted above, I've smoked a ton of cigars with small cracks in them like that. All smoked great
