Hey Jon, great post brother! As I stated there...brushing your teeth with a bottle of water, selective eating, armed guards...it sounds like you were deployed. That is indeed an experience in itself that many do not have the pleasure/displeasure of experiencing. Granted, you were surrounded by your passion, it is still rough living. You inspire me, good sir, to really go for my passion within the cigar industry after I leave the army. Life is too short to settle. I really need to do everything within my power to get into the industry I love. Your posts like this and general connection to your people creates hope.

Great read and advice. Your right, we dont know how good we have it. People in places like this would give anything to have one of our "bad" days. We really should be grateful for the things we have but our culture and way of life prevents us from it. Until you see others living in poverty, with disabilities, and no real way to make money, there really isnt too much perspective. The poor people in our country have cars, TVs, AC, and other things the real poor people in these third world countries will never have. The next time we are "having a bad day", we need to put ourselves in their shoes and really take the time to think how they would feel in that moment. Thanks for sharing your experience Jon, keep them coming.
