Hello,

I've been lurking over the site for a few days as I've just found it. I'm new to cigar smoking besides what my grandfather would give me every time I would visit, which were the cheapest he could find and always turned me off to cigars. A new neighbor moved in and I went down to meet and greet and he offered a stick, a Romeo y Julieta. This is the first cigar I've had that didn't taste pretty bad, and I really enjoyed it. Previous to this I'd occasionally head out and buy a few cheapy cigars and didn't enjoy them so I've figured out you get what you pay for.

Anyways, after smoking a good cigar, I decided to head back to the local B&M. I bought a handful of cigars which I had a bit of help choosing by a few of the people who were already in their walk in humidor that they said would allow me to decide what kinds I'd like. I was a bit hesitant since each of them were $4-8 each and I walked out with a handful, a new humidor, and other various things. So far, I'm hooked. Every night I've gone out in my gazebo and had a nice smoke while just relaxing to some nice music.

So far it seems I enjoy the milder smokes, I love the Romeo y Julieta Habana Reserve's and also enjoyed the Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva they recommended, though I'm not sure if this would be considered mild or not. It may be frowned upon, but a random cigar I picked up, a Kahlua Turbo, was also nice, mainly because I missed the flavor of Kahlua since I can't drink any longer and black russians were my favorite.

Besides that, there's not much else to say about myself except that I hope to stick around for the long term and learn a lot from the more experienced people here, which I've already started doing in the humidor section.

An aside, if you all wouldn't mind throwing in a recommendation along the lines of the Romeo y Julieta Habana Reserve's, I'd appreciate some input.

-Jeff

Welcome Jeff! Great intro...you're just starting your cigar journey and have the rest of your life to enjoy it!

Upstate New York is beautiful. I've spent some time in Saratoga Springs and around Lake George and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Try some of the maduro smokes that are out there...like they say, "Don't be afraid of the dark!" The Macanudo maduro is a good mild to medium smoke.

Welcome Jeff! Great introduction!

As for trying new cigars, keep an eye on CI samplers & daily deals here. You'll very soon have a nice selection to sample from.

I quit drinking ten years ago this September - but I love drinking a coffee or Dr Pepper or root beer or cream soda with my cigar for the evening. I also quit cigarettes almost two years ago - that's when the cigar smoking really took off for me, before that I'd smoke a cigar once a week or every other week.

Enjoy & don't hesitate ask questions or send a message!

Welcome to the Brotherhood, mate! Firstly, remember to NOT put the flavoured cigars (like Kahlua) in the same humidor as the others when ye get one. Also, try Oliva Series G (Fantastic cigar which I think ye'll enjoy after what ye told us). And the "Newbie Sampler Thread" pointed out already. Feel free to PM me oranyone else here if ye have a question.
