Hey Guys,
Checking in as a new brother. I'm a 31 year old dude from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I'm married to a wonderful girl named Ashley. I'm very lucky that she is supportive of me smoking cigars, so she is surely a keeper!!!. We just bought our first house in April, and I am stoked to finally have a place to sit in my backyard around a fire and smoke my great stogies. I'm a huge sports guy, love the Chicago Cubbies and Indy Colts. I'm a mechanic during the day, stogie smoker by night. I get in about two to five smokes a week right now. Being from Chicago, I feel, gives me a great opportunity to smoke some great stuff. There are tons of B&Ms and I very much love the hunt of finding something superb. I've been smoking for a very short time. I was given my first cigar by my best bro who has been smoking for quite a few years. I can't say it was extremely memorable, but it did spark my interest to dig a little deeper in to this wonderful pastime. I very much enjoy reading up on reviews, interviews with guys in the industry, and just all around cigar knowledge. I like becoming a student of the leaf. I am always on the hunt for a good deal, which could lead me down the very slippery slope, but we'll see how things go.
Since my first smoke, I bought a humidor and have started to fill it with some great sticks. I am a huge fan of Crownded Heads' Four Kicks line, obvious by my username. I am still trying to develop my palette, and it is a slow process. There are times when I think I am honing in on a flavor, and then others when I just miss everything completely. I am sure that will come with time and variety. fI do know that when something I smoke tastes good it tastes good, and when not it's not. Some of my most memorable smokes have been Room 101 OSOK Chingon, this so far has been my favorite stick. The Padron line has been very good to me. I've had a couple Tatuaje smokes that were very good as well. My humidor is filling quickly, but I've started to accumulate a lot of stuff I would consider for that "special occasion", and unfortunately always pass those up waiting for the right time. I'm very much looking for some of those cheap smokes that wow without hitting my wallet. So that is something I'll be looking into going forward. I hope to become a very active member here, as this forum is right up my alley. From what I've read so far, there are some brothers with a great passion for this hobby. I look forward to talking with many of you great guys and learning from your vast knowledge of the leaf!!!!
Your New BOTL,
Rob
