Just a quick hello. A cigar smoker for last 15 years or so but very limited until recently. I started in the Army as a way to keep bugs off of me in the field with those delicious Dutch Masters :rolling: I was soon "corrected" by my NCOs and moved to hand rolled cigars but have really been stuck on AF Hemmingways for years and sometimes go a month between smokes

Anyway I have started getting much more into my craft beer (I'm a homebrewer) which has caused me to develop my tastes quite a bit. I'm getting out of my cigar rut and I figure life is too short to keep it to once a month. Since my palatte is much more tuned than when I started I'm finding that I can taste many things I never could before and it is opening a new world in cigars. I have tried a few stronger cigars and new shapes that suddenly made me want to learn more and experiment. I think I'm in trouble...

My recent smokes were an LFD Double Ligero Toro and a Ghurka Shaggy. I have a CAO MX2 at home in the humidor (which is sadly devoid of much else.) Like many these days I'm short on $$$ and I will be looking for budget smokes to hold me over to my premiums. I shall make liberal use of the search feature before asking too many silly questions.

Welcome, Craig, from another Craig.

Hemingway is my personal favorite cigar at the moment. There's a ton of great information on smokes in plenty of different budgets.

Try checking out the Newbie Sampler thread too. Good way to get a nice variety of sticks in either a trade or purchase with an established member here.

Anyway, great intro. I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.

Oh, and of course, thanks for your service!

I should clarify that I still like my AFs but I have been smoking the same thing for a LONG time. I'm just broadening my horizons... I picked the Hemingway not so much because I really loved all the flavors but because I didn't really know what I liked and it was highly rated and had a cool shape. I was coming off of a string of H Upmanns that I also had picked at random and the tubes traveled to the field well. I thought I was being suave or something but really didn't know much beyond the score sheet in CA.

Now I am less concerned about who sees me smoke it and more about enjoying the flavors. I had stopped for a year or so due to a string of sinus infections and it was during this time that I was also developing my beer portfolio and thus my senses. I had another AF and noticed some flavors that I really hadn't been paying attention to which led to trying some new smokes that the guy at the local shop helped me pick. It's kinda like not watching TV for a while and coming back to find HD LCD screens in place of your old tube set. Hard to explain I guess but it's kinda like what I went through with beer. Once I could pick out flavors better I wanted to have a range of them available to me rather than just the same great beer all the time.

Thanks for all the welcomes!
