So I know they really aren't the traditional pet but I have wanted some red belly piranha's for about 3 years now. Today, I went to the pet store and bought to baby red-belly piranha's ($5 a piece) and dug my old 20 gallon aquarium out of the basement with the heater and water filter and air pump and all the good stuff. I watched them devour a feeder goldfish today, FUN STUFF!! In a year or 2 I'm going to have to take a video of them eating a fish cuz it's pretty sweet, lol. Anyway, my good/fun news for the day, enjoy the weekend!

That's sweet! My cousin had a piranha growing up, it was pretty cool.

A friend of mine had a little one once, and did something pretty cool with it. He caught a decent sized Bullhead in the lake one day (I wasn't there, sadly) and tossed it in with the piranha. That big fish immediately swallowed the piranha whole! Everyone was freaking out, but the kid was like, "Just wait." After about a minute, you saw the Bullhead jerking around all weird...and then blood in the water...and the the piranha ate it's way out from inside the Bullhead's stomach!

Now how frickin' cool would that be to see?

Is a 20 gallon big enough for 3 piranha's?
I only have 2 of them because 2 of them are my twin brother's but he's going on spring break tomorrow so I'm holding them for him. As juvenile's they're ok to be in this small of a tank but within the next year I'm going to have to upgrade to a 60 gallon tank...

Yea post a photo!!! Are they not illegal?
I think they're just illegal in places where they could survive and harm native fish populations if released. For instance, they're legal to keep up here in Alaska. They don't stand a chance in our lakes and ponds.

The B&M where I have my weekly winter smoke has quite a few aquariums. One kid who works at the adjoining knife shop often has a batch of piranhas in there that he sells.
