new workplace smoking ban

So my work has had a smoking ban for years and I had no problem with it but as of today they are saying we can't smoke anywhere on the company property not even sitting in our own cars in the parking lot.Thats taking it a bit to far!!!

Jim, that really sucks man, sorry to hear that. I don't think they have any legal ground to stand on as far as stopping you from smoking in your car which is considered your personal space but they can always be pricks and fire you claiming another reason. You could then take then to court but is it worth the hassle? Also there's no guarantee due to the burden of proof of what they fired you for.
Hopefully they'll rescind that stupid ban if enough people complain. Good luck.
