So I totally new to all this but had a great thing happen to me today. I'm in construction an while I was sitting on the back of the truck today working on the A F Short Story the General contractor came up to me as asked if I've been smoking long. I told him just how new I am to this all so he told me to hold on after lunch he has something for me. After my guys went off to there next job the GC came back with a desktop humidor FULL of what he was calling his getting you started off right pack. I'm sure my hands thought I took off for the day because the two of us spent all afternoon looking through every thing and smoking . He was good enough to help show me the benefits of age on some CC and a few ways to tell if I'm getting real ones or not. So now I have a desktop humidor full of some good smokes, a undeveloped pallet and a new torch liter. To bad my new cigar mentor is going to Phoenix for the winter.

I don't think forums would work for him. Spent last night teaching him Skype he's not good with computers. I'll try and post up a few pics when I get a little free time . What I really want to do is dive in !

Wow, cigar smokers are such good people.
you said it right there, man! you ever run into him again, you owe him in spirit if nothing else. you never manage to, make sure you do someone a solid if you are in the position to: it is cool as hell to get generosity like that, but the giving and teaching can be much more fulfilling.

oh, and happy smoking, yo! o)

What a great thing to do to pay it forward to someone. Remember, you can develop a palate, but its doubtful that you can grow tobacco seed or create fire. It would seem that out of the haul, you get to develop your palate with someone else's money!

thats a very cool gesture... not surprising at all though.. I've met some seriously great people through pipes and sticks over the years.. thats honestly probably the part I enjoy most about the hobby.. just being able to socialize and associate with good folk...

That's a VERY nice setup!

The level of generosity and brotherhood amongst cigar smokers never ceases to amaze me. Hopefully at some point in the future you will be in a position to pay it forward to a future newb. You must have done a very good job for the general to deserve that kind of attention. Be sure and enjoy them!
