Hello everyone I am a fairly new cigar smoker led to this site by my good buddy GoingPostal. I am looking to improve my knowledge of cigars which I tried over the years but did not begin to develop a real appreciation for the flavor of a good smoke until about four years ago. I have worked at a country club and in hospitality and various guests, members and visitors would offer me smokes. Like most beginners I found the more mild cigars to be more enjoyable than the strong flavors coming fromthe smokes most of the old boys would pull out. The cigars they brought from the private humidors were harsh, and burned hotter. Going postal says many veteran smokers develop a taste for this and they were probably taking bets on whether the kid would barf.
That was most of my exposure to cigars until I met a co-worker who loved cigars. He would bring Robustos and cigarillos to puff on at lunch and on breaks. He schooled me a bit on the differences between cigars and about the care and effort that it takes to make a good cigar. I smoked my first Partagas with him and that was the first cigar I really enjoyed from beginning to end and found that I really liked cigars.
I have begun smoking semi-regularly for the past year on fishing trips and chill afternoons when I have nothing to do. Goingpostal hooked me up with a little Humi and a mix of cigars. A world of flavors exists for me to discover and I'm looking forward to it. I have enjoyed sweet tasting maduros but have not developed a huge affinity for strong leathery flavors. I like the leather to be more complementary when it's in the flavor profile. If anyone has suggestions on Ccs to smoke drop me a message.
Thanks!
