Nextel phone help...

Does anybody on here know anything about Nextel phones?

I have broke yet another phone and need to get another one.
While I have been looking at ebay, when I go to the check usage area feature on most sellers listings, it show that it does not work in my area.

Even when I check one just like the last 2 that I have had.
Any hints on where to buy a used nextel phone???

Yes they do.

I have my sim card still and just want to put into another phone.

I have always bought used phones from a friend of mine but he has moved to Atlanta and has a different service.

I'm no expert and don't take my word, but you should be able to take any phone and put the sim card in it.

That is interesting. Normally a phone will work on the providers network in any state. If it was being used over sea's that would be a different story.

I would check out the link Tom posted for Howard Chui's site. The forums are very informative.

Seems to be a lot of stuff in Canada on that site.
I would think that a i850 like I had or a newer version should work.

Is each model locked into a certain network?

Why not switch to Cingulair and get a free phone?

If it was not for the fact that I just re-signed a new contract and have other phones on this service that I pay for I would do that.

That does seem to be the most effective solution.

usually when a manufacture makes a model for s specific carrier they make them for the network the carrier uses. For example the razr from cingular will not work on the verizon network.

So any current nextel phone should work on the current network.

Ok I just checked a couple on ebay. I put in my zip code and it says no coverage in my area. That is interesting cause one of my friends companies have over 30 of them plus I just saw an add in the newspaper for that phone.

I would call nextel and see what they tell you. Let them know you lost and are looking on ebay for a new phone. See what they tell you.

Your previous Nextel phone worked and now the online tool is telling you you wouldn't have coverage?

Try looking to see if Sprint covers your area since Sprint and Nextel are one now.

Todd, John's trying to get a replacement phone off say ebay to use in his network since he broke so many already. He's just not sure of which phone will work with his carrier/network

IF it is a Nextel/Sprint phone, and previous Nextel phones worked shouldn't they all work regardless. Hell, my phone is through AT&T, now Cingular, and 50% of the time I am not on a Cingular Network.

It'd be no different than me looking on the Cingular website, pick a phone and then get it on ebay. I then put in my SIM card and it works. It should be that simple.

Dude. I have a brand new I 90 sitting at home gathering dust. Its not fancy but I got the insurance and when I broke it last time they just gave me a new one even tho I bought a different one. Let me know.
