I saw that Jessi from Drew Estates posted a NY Times article on FB and wanted to reference it here... the NY Times travel section has a list of the top 46 places to go in 2013 and Nicaragua is number 3. For any of you guys that plan to visit Nicaragua on the Cigar Safaris or other opportunities, I highly recommend that you spend a few extra days and do some traveling on your own out to the beaches, Ometepe Island, Granada etc. When I went in the Spring of 2010, I figured if I was traveling all the way from Seattle to Nica, I might as well spend some extra time seeing other parts of the country. I flew in 3 days early and stayed in Granada, then after the cigar part of the trip, I stayed on Ometepe Island and then over to San Juan del Sur for a few nights. I loved my time in Esteli, but I will never forget my entire trip... Ometepe Island is special.
