I just want to say Thanks to all for their thoughts and prayers for my dad and myself since our ordeal back in April.

Sorry to say, my dad lost his battle with lung cancer on 8/9/08. Just 2 short months after his 67th birthday. The only good thing is that he doesn't have to suffer anymore.

The past 6 weeks have been difficult dealing with his sickness. He was placed in a nursing home after his only functioning lung had collapsed. After a few weeks we decided to move him to a hospital specializing in making cancer patients comfortable for their remaining days. He was there for 8 days.

He was a good man and did the best he could for us up until his final day. I will miss him. I hope I can make him proud when he looks down on me.

Thanks for BOTL being here and giving me an opportunity to meet such great people and an avenue to express myself. I'll be around probably just reading here and there and not posting much for a little while.

I'm deeply sorrowed to find you and your family in such sorrow, I wish comfort for you all. I'm sure your Dad was a great guy and that the world has lost a measure of it's kindness.

I lost my Dad 6 years ago. You have my condolecenses and will be in our thoughts and prayers.

When I became a dad in July of 2007, my wife got me one of those daily calendars with Dad sayings on them for Christmas of 2007. The saying on April 17, 2008 really hit home when I tore it off and read it. As a matter of fact, it is the only one I saved and is pinned to a bulletin board 5 feet from where I am sitting:

Changing Images of Dad
A five-year-old's image: "Daddy knows everything."
A fifteen-year-old's image: "Dad doesn't have a clue."
A thirty-five-year-old's image: "Before we decide, let's ask Dad what he thinks."
A sixty-five-year-old's image: "I wish Dad were here so I could talk it over with him."

Eddie I am sorry to hear of your fathers passing. We had talked about him a bit when we meet up in NYC and I know it has been difficult on you and your family. You are in my prayers.

Eddie, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. It's not an easy thing to deal with, but he is not suffering anymore and is in a better place now. I know that is little consolation for those left behind. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
