Once again, political correctness has won a major victory as two executive editors of the University of Missouris student newspaper Maneaters were forced to resign over a special April Fools edition that backfired
big time.
The newspaper came out with a special edition called Carpeteaters that is supposedly a derogatory term for lesbians. Ironically, the managing editor of the newspaper was a female, Abby Spudich.
I truly did not know that carpet eater is a derogatory term used for a lesbian, Spudich wrote last week. Had I known, I would never have even considered using it.
The newspapers editor-in-chief, Travis Cornejo, also was forced out even though he had nothing to do with the edition.
It seems as if no faculty were involved with the college newspaper. It also seems that MU students are not allowed to make a mistake while in college.
