So this is weird ...

I have a box of Tatuaje Noellas that I got last summer (box date July '09). When I got them, I noticed that they have very dark wrappers ... VERY dark.

I posted the picture (below) in another thread, and a few people commented that these might be OR Noella Reservas (i.e. '06) because they were so dark. I said that couldn't be the case, since they had a box date of '09. I figured it was just natural wrapper variation (this entire box is that dark)--or on the outside chance, they could have been Reserva '09s and were mislabeled.

Well, I like my Noella's to age a bit, so I haven't gotten around to smoking one until right now (I'm 1/2 way through it). This does NOT taste like a regular Noella to me, and it does NOT have the distinctive wrapper taste of the Noella Reserva '09. I'm at a loss. The earthy/grassy, Cubanesque tobacco flavor is there, but there is also a strong and distinct other flavor that reminds me a lot of ... a Tat Verocu! It does not taste like what I'd expect a Verocu Corona to taste like--it's definitely a brown label--but it has that distinctive sweet-spicy twang that I love about the Verocu. [I admit the possibility that my palate may be off or something, and I did smoke a Boris earlier today, which tasted like they normally do, i.e. awesome, lol]

So what do you guys think is going on here?

Here is a picture:

Nate, there's something wrong with those, and I'm fully prepared to help you dispose of them properly, brother.

Just looking out for ya man.

This has been discussed many tiimes. The wrappers on the Cabinet series varies greatly. Some light some dark. But the OR Noellas did have the Reserva sticker on the boxes. I have some Cazadores that very A LOT. But Pete says this iskVERY common.

Variation in wrapper color seems to be the obvious answer Nate. I don't think it's strictly in the cabinet series though. I saw a HUGE color difference between the wrapper color of the T110's that I bought from the 1st shipment and another couple that I received in trade. The two I rec'd were very, very dark.....MUCH darker than from each stick out of the box I purchased.

The response I got was the same. Simply a variation in wrapper color and nothing more. I'd say if they "taste" different to you (i.e. Oscuro wrapper)......smoke away and enjoy em' my friend!!! :cbig:
