That's - "Newb" Report, not Noon! (cannot edit title)

Decided to light up a second Nub Connecticut and enjoy it on a drive to see grandkids yesterday. All went well and I was enjoying it more than my first. At about the 70 minute mark, with a beautiful 2" gray ash, we made a pit stop for the wife. I purposely bumped off the ash and immediately noticed significant tunneling. The Nub very promptly self-extinguished. I did not have a full guillotine guillotine cutter to recut and relight, so called it finished.

What is exasperating is that I was so enjoying this smoke and was certain I would smoke this down to itty bity length. Also, just that morning I had viewed Jfire's video instruction on lighting and did everything right (so I thought): no flame on cigar, gasses flashing, nice red cherry before I took first puff.

Obviously, as this is a lighting issuer per my reading, I need much more practice!

But, sure enjoyed the smoke for the time I had it!!

The only time I usually have any issues with cigars tunneling is on bigger RG cigars. (Nubs included here) If you puff too slowly, or even not hard enough to pull the light from the filler to the wrapper it'll start tunneling..If you don't touch it up at the first, it'll continue to get worse. - I always double puff any cigar bigger than 54ish RG. I don't puff extremely hard normally, and double puffing gives the larger RG cigars the air intake they need to keep the burn even. Also, the few Nubs that I have smoked have been not terribly far off of finishing at the 70 minute range, so perhaps when you're smoking something that big around try a little faster and slightly harder draws. Not enough that it gets the flavors unpleasant, but it shouldn't burn as hot too quickly like a smaller size cigar will.

Drez, whast you say here makes good sense. I thought this smoke was lasting much longer than I anticipated for a Nub. Also, I have been deliberately taking no more than one gentle puff per minute. I will try your methods and tips on the next large RG cigar I light. Thanks for the input!
