Thinking about going back to college...hmmmm

The move would make it easier for American students, teachers and researchers to visit the island nation but would not affect the trade embargo that's been in place for a half century, The Associated Press reported Tuesday.
The White House has indicated it wants to promote democracy in Cuba by allowing certain Americans to visit there. A complete lifting of travel restrictions would not happen unless the communist regime makes political or economic reforms.

Why, so you can continue to get tax-free smokes? Sorry, don't want to pull this thread down, but really think that argument is crass.

When I was involved in the cigar "game" previously, I understood the argument as to be that it was about quality, not taxes.

Those who supported lifting the embargo wanted more free access to cubans, but those opposing the lift were concerned about the quality of the smokes dropping with brands trying to make an insane amount of cash quickly once they opened up to the US.

My apologies if my school of thought is a few years behind the curve.. just really getting back into this.

I still agree with my thoughts from before that it may degrade quality based on the demand that may be put on the cuban brands from the US; not to mention the increase in cost based on the demand. High demand = expect the cost to increase even more than it is already for those who may manage to import.

(If I'm in the wrong in anything I said, especially against forum rules, just let me know, delete my post, etc. I'm still reviewing forum rules :innocent:)

I'll take lowered quality on Cuban Cigars as an acceptable trade for the opportunity to improve the lives of the average Cuban.

The cubans will just simply reach out to other tobacco producing countries to ramp up production with a multi national mix. Not only would quality severely lack if the embargo was lifted they'd run out of tobacco in no time. If that didn't happen they would necessarily skyrocket to capitalize on the demand and the smallish supply for the American market.
