Wondering if you've experienced this..

Lately it seems each cigar has been tasting the same: sweet. Like brown sugar. Odd. Never experienced this.

I'm gonna take a couple days off from smoking to see if that helps.

Like you said take a few days off from smoking. Maybe a week if you can handle it. Then maybe shock it with something complex to see if the nuances come back.

Good call. I'll try something complex that I know well to see if it improves.

John, just went through the exact same thing last week. Sadly, it hit me on a few very good smokes, ruined them in my opinion, to me it's not enjoyable. Took several days off, and that seemed to clear it up.

Gargle with bleach

Or just smoke a gurkha...Same thing
Gurkhas seem to be better known for their packaging than their smoke-ability. Cigar Inspector gives the Royal Challenge 3 stars and the Seduction 1.5 stars (!!). Reviewer Aaron talks about a "unique sourness" in the RC and a "strange chemical note" in the Seduction, so you're apparently right; it's like gargling with bleach. :D

I went through this a long time ago. I was really bummed and thought maybe something was wrong. I am a guy who HAS to have my daily cigar and I grabbed a few really mild cigars to smoke for a few days. I then went back to the ones I liked and found the problem solved. I really hope this doesn't happen again as I found it quite irritating and unrelaxing.

This is something we all go through. Sometimes it's because we change diets, foods, medications or it's just the nature of the beast or that we've actually smoked too many cigars. A few days off usually will take care of this.

Sinus issues is a likely cause. I had a severe sinus infection that messed up my taste buds for 6 months... until I had another sinus infection that reset them. On the plus side, it took away the grassy, bitter taste I associate with a lot of super-hoppy IPAs, and I was able to enjoy them. Being a supertaster, this was a curse and a blessing.

Some people also report a diabetic condition as being a likely problem.

I've experienced this EXACT condition several times. For me, it means that I've got a slight cold or allergy issues. If you want, you can smoke still, though I'd stick to cheaper stuff since it will taste pretty much the same! But it should clear up.

Sometimes I've had this last for like 2 weeks -- sucks, I know. I think it might clear up SOONER if you lay off cigars for a while and give yourself a chance to heal faster. I also recommend a sinus rinse like Neli Med.
