The suicide stuff was one of the things that surprised me about my job. Way more common than I ever thought, though that guy was pretty inventive about it.

We just got trained on responding to Chemical Suicides, which I guess is the next big thing since it uses readily available household items.

Over-the-counter med overdose is the #1 suicide method for females. Males tend to go for the more dramatic exits: firearms, roof-jumps, trains, etc., often wearing sentimental clothing (uniforms and what not). I find that interesting ... horrible, obviously, but interesting.

I am not quite sure i understand clearly what the heck happened. But from the little I can gather, it sounds like an odd way to go.

I had a guy who booby trapped his yard and barricaded himself in his shed. After a 6 hour negotiation/standoff we heard the gunshot. When we opened the shed it was packed floor to ceiling and the guy was buried in the back. No idea how he got all that junk stuffed on top of him. It was during the night and the situation was creepy. Shot himself in the head.

Unfortunate... RIP

Can't imagine what would push me to that point. Very very few things even hit the radar.

Thanks to those who respond to those calls, not an easy task by ANY stretch.
