Opening your LAST box - Most prized box

So, you buy a few boxes / jars / packages of cigars that trun out to be GREAT sticks....Some highly sought after, some unknown by most....

The questions I have are (assume the boxes can no longer be purchased):

1. What is your most prized, the one that you will wait as long as you can to open / make it less than a full box?
2. Do you buy boxes and 5ers of cigars that you expect to be good
3. When you have found THAT cigar / box, what causes you to not open your last box?
4. What finally causes you to open that last box?

Just thoughts....I have a few and a recent release that I bought a 5er and a box....Now I want to smoke them all the time but I only have 3 left before I have to open the final box.....Viaje Chiquito would be the current one...

I am not on the same level as you collection wise, but my first box of Noellas was really hard to smoke one after I was about half way through. They are nearly gone now after over year of holding on to them. they are just so good, it's like treating myself. If I just want a cigar I'll grab an Olive V or some other random single, but when I feel I deserve a treat I'll reach for one of those that I have been saving.

My most prized box that I have sealed from earlier pruchase is a box of La Aurora Vintage 2003 Salomon. It was one of my first box purchases and I won't crack it open until spring when I have the time to smoke something that big. I plan to smoke one a year once winter is over.

Damn.. That's a though one.

I can only imagine what the SW reservas are like now, and with time. the only one i ever smoke (few months back) was great.... wish I had more to hold on for later.
The Dracs are getting better with time, lucky for me I have a few singles to smoke in a few months to see how they come around... before I gotta worry about the box.

God I love warm weather!!!!!

I can't believe I am in North Myrtle Beach/ Little River S.C.,looking out the hotel window and it is snowing big time. There is at least an inch on the ground and the snow is at times horizontal. I never saw this in Apache Junction, AZ. I am looking for spring anytime now!

I only wish I had the dough to be able to collect like that but I don't. I really can't afford to buy box's and when I do they are either very affordable or an auction purchase. I have a box of Camacho Liberty's 2009 that is about my only box I concider at the level your asking. If I had the money I would either buy a box of Padron 80's, 45's, or 44's.

1. I have two boxes Im saving, not sure which out ranks the other, but I have a wooden box of 5 (full) of Cuban Partagas Ramonitas from the early 1940's and I also have a wooden box of 50 (full) of Castle Hall Twins clear havan'as from 1920. In both cases the cigars are in great shape.
2. Unless the cigar has a very high trader value and I know I can get back out of them what I pay for them or are HTF, I don't buy more than singles on stuff I can't get more of later.
3. Always the same reasons, Great friends.
4. The last special box I cracked was the full box of 1919 Clear Havana's I broke out at my Dec 12th herf. I shared them with Friends of old and those I had just met that night. Cigars are worth money until you smoke them, and then greatness.

I save them for the right time with the right friends. Other than that they are destined to be smoked no matter what unless I have an untimely death.

If its smoking fantastic, it gets burned.
2. Do you buy boxes and 5ers of cigars that you expect to be good. I usually don't buy a box of anything that I have not tried.
3. When you have found THAT cigar / box, what causes you to not open your last box? If it is smoking right, an act of God.
4. What finally causes you to open that last box? Wanting to smoke that particular cigar.

I have let go of the idea of saving cigars. To me, aging and saving are two totally different things. If a cigar taste good to me now, its days are numbered.

In my opinion, a nice portion of the NCs that are very popular loose their "taste" after a few years. If I purchase a quantity of those, they will be smokes within a year or two.

I don't save boxes I smoke whatever I buy most of the time... the only boxes I can think of buying to hold on to are perhaps ELs or REs for obvious reasons. I didn't hold on to any HdM Regalos and am now kicking myself in the ass for it.

I usually try a few sticks before buying but have been known to purchase a box simply because I liked how the sticks looked (as was the case with the Regalos). Most of the time if I'm holding on to a stick its so I can share it with friends otherwise what's the point life is short and there's too much to smoke.

I normally rotate enough where if I want to age a box I can.

I really like variety so I rarely buy multiple boxes of the same cigar. I have a couple of unopened boxes just because I haven't made it to them. But I find it is a great time to be a cigar smoker as there are plenty of great smokes on the shelves at all time and some of my favorites are still pretty new cigars so I am always looking to what tomorrow brings

"Smoke Up Johnny" - Smoke 'em if you got 'em - anticipation is over-rated in these parts - those cigars U R sitting on will either be confiscated by the smoking police or liberated by the feudal lord of your region come the break-up - 'course you could always save 'em for barter come the financial collapse, that is if U R powerful enough to hold on to your possessions - wait a mo... - did I say all that out loud??? - Point is, there are no guarantees for tomorrow - smoke while the smoking is good - Ha! ~:0)
