So I had a Padilla 1932 Robusto (the new one with the Padilla written in script on the band) this afternoon. The stick was nothing like peoples' comments, unfortunately for the worse. The cigar started off with a lot of pepper undertones, but the finish had a charred tobacco taste that lingered for the first two thirds. I was contemplating putting it down, but the last third got a bit better and creamier, but it was still almost offensive. I also had to relight the thing three times. Seems as if this isn't a sipping cigar and needs constant attention.

I read a few reviews and people raved about this stick. Granted this is the newer blend which is considered inferior to the old, but am I missing something here?

I'm with ya. I didn't like it either and for some unknown reason I bought a box. Granted it was from Cbid but still.

No....I had a Padilla 1932 oscuro Pepin 2007 and the 2009 oscuro CI Padilla. Night and freakin day The Pepin smoke was amazing. The other a dyed flat tasting smoke that I would never buy. The regular 1932 lanceros...Pepin made are excellent also.

The blend "theoretically" never changed....just the factory in which they were rolled. Being a HUGE fan of the Pepin-rolled 32's (easily in my top 5 favorites), I have tried many of the old and only a few of the newer. They are not the same cigar. And while I've never had a horrible experience with the newer version such as you experienced, I've never found it to be anything remotely outstanding either. Just a good cigar.

The old version on the other hand.......hot damn that's a great stick!!

but the crop might have changed... tobacco is a commodity and cannot be controlled too much.

i personally like the 32's.

I like the new blend but I'm in total agreement with the burn issues. The Oscuros are almost impossible to keep lit. I only buy them when they go on special which is almost always since the change.

Interesting to hear the different perspectives on the new vs. old 32s. I'll try and get my hands on one of the old ones to do a side by side test, as I still have one of the new ones left in my humi.

You may have smoked a bad stick. Try another one.

The 32 does have pepper and is a very "earthy" cigar. Some people like that taste. :starrylov
I agree. Sometimes ya just get a bad stick. My rule of thumb is I need to smoke three of the same cigars before I rule it a bad cigar. I personally love the current 32, have yet to try the Pepin 32.

I didn't have many of the Pepin '32 but comparison or not the new blend of the '32 is still real good IMO. Sure the Pepin may have been better, but the new blend is all there is now. I think you must of just got a bad one.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better $4 cigar than the Padilla 32, which is pretty much what they go for on Cbid.

Don't know too many that can compete at that price. I like the 601 Oscuro and Cubao in that price range as well.....but as far as bang for the buck stick........it's gotta be in the top 5 IMO.

I didn't think this was a bad cigar so you might just have gotten a bad one or it just may not be your thing. I am not a huge Padilla fan and only liked his 32 and Miami blends. I'm with the rest of the bro's saying give it one more shot!
