Anyone familiar with this product? Good ole Uncle bought me one to put all my appointments and things in (short term went completely to shit on all the meds, and is just now starting to rebound). It has a built in GPS receiver and came with Microshaft Streets and Trips as the mapping software. I can get the GPS receiver to lock in a fix on 9-10/12 satellites, however I cannot get Streets and Trips to recognize the signal. I keep getting an error saying 'The com port is active, however no GPS signal is being received, though I know from VisualGPS that I do have a pretty strong signal. The company tech support sent me several programs that were supposed to fix the prob but didn't. Any of you tech gurus have an idea as to what the problem is?

thnx

Same issue last week when I got mine ready for hunting. Wanted to take the laptop out to clear the trail cameras and pushpin my stands. The night before got the same issues and I'm drawing a blank on how I got it to work. I had the same error as you. One thing was Bluetooth manager on the notebook. I had it discover the GPS unit and set it to COM 5. This was with using the USB cable but I figured I might as well partner them anyway. Make sure everything is looking at the same COM port. The software and the GPS hardware properties. Then reboot.
