Pick my friend's sampler pack!

My friend, who lives in a country not imposing a trade embargo with Cuba, and who is new to the mystery that is the cuban cigar, is going to purchase a sampler of single cigars.

This guy, a really really good close friend of mine, is looking to include about 10-12 cigars that would represent a nice cross section of the best the cuban brands have to offer. I thought maybe you guys would get a kick out of throwing together a list of what you would choose given those parameters.

Note, my friend is looking mainly for cigars in the corona to toro size range, he doesn't typically have time to smoke anything larger than that. Beyond that anything goes. So what say you? Can you help a brother out?

I would direct your friend toward some of the tried and true staples of lines of smokes and stay away from more specialty smokes. In no particular order:

1. Bolivar Coronas Extra
2. Cohiba Robusto or Corona Especial
3. El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme
4. H. Upmann Mag 46 or Conn #1 (I would rec. the Sir Winston, but that's bigger than your parameters)
5. Monte #2 and #4 (both are classic smokes that are must tries)
6. Partagas PSD 4 (I don't like them, but they are a must try also)
7. Punch Punch
8. Rafael Gonzales Coronas Extra (very underrated imo)
9. Romeo y Julieta Corona or Exhibitiion #4 (I would rec. the Churchill but again that's too big.)
10. San Luis Ray Serie A
11. I forgot Por Larranaga Petit Corona

Thanks for all the ideas, many of those were in the back of my mind, but others were not. It seems like alot of people like the PLPC's, any particular reason, or it's just a nice cigar? Also, I was also considering adding a Juan Lopez to the list.... thoughts on that?
