Suburban robot that monitors reality -BOM Feb.'13
Hello all,
Mrs. Rupe had surgery last Monday for some digestive tract issues and according to the surgeon, everything went well. She spent Monday and Tuesday in the hospital and then came home on Wednesday. Unfortunately overnight Wednesday she began to experience pain anytime she ate or drank anything so I took her back into the emergency room ealy Thursday Morning (6 am). After a couple of hours the doctor decided to readmit her but unfortunately they did not have a bed available. Finally around 4pm (after 10 hours in the ER) they got her into a room.
Thankfully the doctor says that all of her vitals are OK, there are no infections and she is healing well otherwise. The problem though is that there is irritation in her digestive tract that will not allow her to eat anything or take pain pills without causing excruciating pain. Unfortunately this means that she needs to be in the hospital in order to get her pain meds, saline, etc. intravenously. Tomorrow morning I am going to be leaving on a 2 week business trip and will no longer be able to spend time with her while she is recovering. We have a wonderful family and church support system that can help her out but she is still stressed out about me being gone.
Please pray that the irritation will heal and that her pain will be reduced to the point where she can start taking pills again and be able to go home. Right now she is somewhat discouraged and fearful about being alone so please also pray that her spirits will stay high and that she remains in a good mental state. Finally, please pray that my CEO / Owner will understand if at some point I need to bug-out on the trip and head for home. He is making a special trip in from Taiwan for this visit and is expecting me to escort him and handle the details for the next couple of weeks
Thanks in advance for your prayers! I am a firm believer in the power of prayer and feel confident that God will step in to fill in for me while I am gone.

Update 12/4
As of yesterday the doctors were very concerned since she has not been getting any protein for the past week and they started to prep us for the fact that she would need to have a feeding tube surgically implanted from her abdomen into her stomach. Naturally this is not a situation that we would like to see for her but we knew that she wouldn't be able to go much longer before her bodily functions began to shut down.
With many tears and constant prayer we both went to bed last night with the expectation of a miracle. PRAISE GOD! She turned the corner overnight and has been eating yogurt, eggs, chicken soup and drinking water throughout the day. I spoke with her several times today and each time I could tell that her spirits were getting higher. Please keep praying since she's not out of the woods yet but as long as she is able to keep eating at the pace she is the doctors said that the feeding tube will not be necessary.
BIG THANKS to everyone for all of the prayers and support that you have given us on this. It has certainly helped our situation and has made a HUGE difference for Mrs. Rupe and me. Hopefully she will be able to go home in the next couple of days and at some point in the near future our lives will return to normal.
