Does anyone know what are the cigar prices in France? I'll be travelling to France in the near future - not that I'm planning on any major purchases (just some REs, if I can find any) but still, I'd like to know beforehand what I can expect.

As far as I understand, the legal situation prevents French vendors from advertising, listing prices or selling over the internet, so I couldn't do any research from home.

Turns out that the prices, at least for some cigars, are quite favorable. I bought a siglo II for 10 eur and a cuaba tradicionales for about 5.60 eur. Fonseca delicias are less than 3 and a davidoff grand cru #5 costs 6.80 eur.

It's funny how gas costs 35 cents per litre more than in my country, and the price of apples is double compared to what I pay back home, but cigars are actually cheaper. This significantly changes the cost-of-living comparison.

Wow, not to shabby on the prices. I was really expecting it to be quite a bit more in Paris.
Probably shoulda mentioned before, I'm not in Paris but in Toulouse. Still, decent prices are decent.

By the way, both of the cigars are 2011. Any suggestions on how long I should age them?

I guess the French know how not to tax the crap out of the finer things in life. Good to know, thanks. Is it.pretty easy to enjoy a cigar in most places?

Can't speak on personal experince, as I didn't get to smoke any while I was there, but: the French, as far as I know, have a ban on smoking in all public places (like the most of the EU). However, seeing how this was the South of France, smoking outdoors should be a viable option for the better part of the year (Mar - Oct).

When I was there people were smoking in the metro stations and there were officers walking around and they didnt even blink an eye.

But like Jim said, most places have outdoor seating so if you want to smoke, just sit outdoors.

I didnt see anyone smoking cigars, but cigarettes everywhere.
