I've never done much shopping on BF, but was recently pricing out a new DVD player/recorder to replace my old one. I was going to buy a Philips DVDR3475 and saw that the price was $116.99 at BestBuy.com a few days ago (in fact that price is still shown in Google for BB)

I then priced it yesterday to see if it had gone on sale and found the priced had jumped to $129.99 ! :wtf:

I somehow always knew that the BF game was ... slash prices on numerous items to get the crowds in, but raise the price on most other items ... but this seems to be pretty solid proof.

I do not doubt this for 1 second that is exactly what the stores are doing. Super low prices for selected items and a limited amount available to draw them in. They know people will buy other things while there.

The only things I've bought on black friday are movies. You can always get tons of DVDs for like $3 and $4. But the rest is silly. Waiting in line for 30 hours to save $100????? Why don't you just work for 10 hours and sleep for 20 and go in the week after!!!!! Some people are crazy.

Thats about correct. I worked in retail for some time while going to school. When they were going to have a huge salethey would buy several brands of shoes as soon as they got them in they would either double of triple the price and then mark them down 50 to 60% and they would sell like hot cakes.

And I did go out around 3pm to my best buy to get a new SD memory card, I got a 2 Gig for $15. I think it was worth it.

I've always wanted to see the software they use to calculate pricing at the large stores such as Best Buy. Even through out the year they take hits on certain items just to get people in the door.
